Bonding
Touch is baby’s early language as he/she responds to physical contact. It's soothing for mummy and baby while promoting baby's healthy growth and development.
Eye-to-eye contact provides meaningful communication at close range and young babies can follow moving objects with their eyes too. Baby will try early on to imitate other’s facial expressions and gestures and he/she enjoys vocalising in their first efforts at communication. Babies are born communicators and along with all the wonderful bonding you are doing by caring for your newborn baby, remember to chat chat chat to one another all the time.
Music
An unborn baby floats around in a watery world filled with pulsing beats and sounds and so when baby is born he/she is hard-wired to respond to sounds, familiar voices, white noise and high pitched sounds such as door-bells which may even make baby jump. Rather than sudden sounds; babies enjoy the lull of a washing machine and particularly enjoy listening to gentle soothing music, especially lullabies which have been shown to have a positive healing effect on sick babies in intensive care units.. and there is also now evidence that the musical stimulation babies receive from birth to 18 months really does influence their later development. So sing sing sing all day long!
Creativity and exploration
Why is creativity important? Well we believe that it is an expression of one's self, creativity is not just about drawings and art, but about the way we think and process information. Building a child's creativity allows him/her to be confident in approaching novel or challenging experiences. Creativity requires interactivity between you and your baby, watch him/her at play and see what he/she enjoys. Give baby plenty of opportunities to explore, don’t rush the simplest of tasks, as every day is a new and exciting day for a young baby in their BIG wide world.
Quiet time
Every class finishes with quiet time, a time to cuddle-up and reflect and just be… a very valuable skill for life too…
We have taken some of the principles from yoga and the Doula philosophy, along with baby calming techniques and offer this original experience to a backdrop of contemporary songs, lullabies and beautiful music. Baby Bells has been created to offer mothers a practical tool kit that is both informative and we hope delightful!
During each class we explore sensory activities to stimulate baby and gentle music and movement to relax baby. We also create a space and time for you and baby to connect at deeper levels, communicating both verbally and non-verbally. Each class is a sound journeytm and as we guide you through, we hope that you feel a sense of flow and will soon settle into our magical world.
